Safe Kids Foundation was established in Mumbai in October 2007 and became a member of Safe Kids Worldwide at that time.
In India, preventable injuries kill more than 60,000 children each year, leaving many more disabled. Safe Kids Foundation works with nonprofit organizations, governments and schools to promote awareness and teach that accidental deaths and injuries are preventable. In 2009, Safe Kids Foundation expanded its work to Delhi.
The Safe Kids Foundation’s Walk This Way program reaches both school children and non-school-going children through partnerships with likeminded NGOs. A home safety and burn prevention program is under development.

Safe Kids Walk This Way Programs for Children
Safe Kids Foundation launched a “Safe Kids Walk This Way” program with school children in Mumbai in October 2007. This program aims to educate child pedestrians how to prevent unintentional injuries and deaths on the roadways.
Training of Road Safety Patrol Constables and Teachers
Safe Kids Foundation partnered with the Mumbai Traffic Police to spread the message of safety. In July 2009 constables involved in training Road Safety Patrol (RSP) Cadets were trained in how to effectively communicate pedestrian safety messages to children. Twenty-eight constables participated in these programs
Safe Kids Foundation Partnered with the Mumbai Traffic Police to Observe Road Safety Week
During January 2009, Safe Kids Foundation observed Road Safety Week. Safe Kids Foundation partnered with Mumbai traffic police to promote pedestrian safety messages through various events.
Safe Kids Foundation printed posters to observe Road Safety Week, which were displayed in schools having Road Safety Patrols and at various police stations and public places like malls, theaters and colleges. Safe Kids Foundation also made banners with different messages, which were put up at key locations all over Mumbai.
