Who We Are

Safe Kids Worldwide is a global network of organizations with a mission of preventing unintentional childhood injury, a leading cause of death and disability for children ages 14 and under.

The 19 member countries of Safe Kids Worldwide bring together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate families, create safer environments and advocate for improved laws to protect children.

Safe Kids Worldwide members:

  • Teach families about unintentional injury risks
  • Encourage and conduct research on the leading injury risks to children
  • Evaluate solutions for identified injury risks
  • Pass and advocate for the improvement of child safety laws and regulations
  • Provide lifesaving devices such as child safety seats, helmets and smoke alarms to families who need them
  • Promote corporate leadership in child safety through effective and sustainable partnerships

Safe Kids Worldwide was founded in 1987 in the United States as the National SAFE KIDS Campaign by Children's National Medical Center, with support from Johnson & Johnson. Safe Kids Worldwide is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Washington, D.C., USA.
