There’s an epidemic going on that most people don’t know about. Every day around the world, more than 500 children lose their lives in traffic crashes, and thousands more are injured. To get the word out and inspire people to take action, the kids in this video have a message they want you to hear.

For too long, global road safety has not received the priority it deserves, especially when it comes to the needs of children. Not only are children at high risk in vehicles, on bicycles, and in some countries on motorcycles, they are vulnerable as pedestrians and are often injured or killed in the simple act of walking to school.

As the children in the video said, “We must do more than talk. We must do more than meet. We must do more than watch a video.”

Well, Safe Kids Worldwide is working alongside the United Nations and other organizations to challenge everyone from world leaders to children and families to sign a Youth Declaration to #SaveKidsLives. The #SaveKidsLives campaign calls on all of us who care about the safety of children to get involved by urging policymakers at all levels, from your local city council and mayor to world leaders to do more so that kids everywhere can be kept safe.

This week is Global Road Safety Week. It's a perfect time to show your support for road safety initatives across the world. Will you help support the movement for road safety led by children around the world? Join us by signing the Declaration today.

To join the campaign, visit savekidslives2015.org. It takes only a few seconds but it will make a meaningful impact in the lives of children everywhere.

Global Road Safety Week and Global Youth Traffic Safety Month give us a perfect opportunity to speak up on this issue.Together, we can call upon decision-makers worldwide to take action and protect children. We have it in our power to save the next generation from this growing epidemic, and we must succeed.
