October 2013 Product Safety Recalls

10/23/2013 CPSC: Infinitoy is recalling its Super Safari and Deluxe Circus Train play sets because some of the plastic pieces included in the sets present a choking hazard for small children. Number of Products: 7,100.

10/22/2013 FDA: Reser’s Fine Foods, Inc is recalling refrigerated ready-to-eat products (salads, dips, salsa, condiments, lunch meat, etc.) because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Number of Products: 109,000 cases. On 10/26/2013 Reser’s voluntarily expanded the recall to include more products that were possibly contaminated.

10/18/2013 FDA: Sunny Pine Farms is voluntarily recalling Chevre Cheese products due to inadequate pasteurization which may not have completely eliminated all of the bacteria.

10/21/2013 FDA: Kashmir Crown Baking LLC is voluntarily recalling its “KCB Pista Khatie” cookies (13 oz. and 30 oz.) due to a trace presence of eggs that they failed to label on the product.
10/23/2013 FDA: NatureMost Laboratories is recalling Vanilla Almond Whey Power and Strawberry Banana Whey Power because they contain undeclared milk, almond and soy allergens.http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm372004.htm

10/24/2013 FDA: Boston Salads and Prepared Foods is voluntarily recalling multiple preprocessed salads, including: Seafood and Shrimp Salad, Chef's Recipe Potato Salad, Seafood Salad, Tuna Salad and Shrimp Salad and the Costa Fruit Fresh Ideas Garden Tuna Salad due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

10/24/2013 CPSC: Trail Crest is recalling boys and girls hooded sweatshirts and jackets which have drawstrings through the hood or neck which pose a strangulation hazard to young children. Number of Products: 350.

10/25/2013 FDA: Kraft Foods Group is voluntarily recalling some varieties of Kraft and Polly-O String Cheese because they are labeled with inaccurate expiration dates. Number of Products: 735,000 cases.

10/29/2013 CPSC: Target is recalling Circo-brand Chloe and Conner Sitting Stools because of a defective stabilizing bar that can be a fall hazard to the user. Number of Products: 69,000

10/29/2013 CPSC: Breathable Baby is voluntarily recalling infant wearable blankets because the zipper pull tabs and sliders can detach and cause a choking hazard. Number of Products: 15,000

10/15/2013 FDA: Yoder's Country Market, is recalling custom gift boxes because they may contain 11 oz. bags of honey roasted peanuts which contain undeclared milk and wheat.

10/14/2013 FDA: Costco is voluntarily recalling 40,000 pounds of rotisserie chicken because of the risk of Salmonella poisoning. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recalled epidemiologists as a result of the salmonella risk.

10/10/2013 FDA: Barrel O’Fun Snack Foods is voluntarily recalling Safeway Snack Artist BBQ potato chips because they contain an undeclared allergen, milk.

10/04/2013 FDA: Turkey Hill Dairy is voluntarily recalling specific packages of the following flavors of ice cream: Fudge Ripple Ice Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream and Moose Track Stuff’s Frozen Dairy Dessert because some might contain metal shavings. Limited to select stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.

10/04/2013 FDA: D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co., Inc. is voluntarily recalling Market Pantry White Fudge Coated Animal Cookies.

10/01/2013 FDA: Mandy Star Trading is voluntarily recalling its “Good Taste” branded plums for containing undeclared sulfites.
