Thelma Kuska has been a certified child passenger safety technician/instructor since 1998. Thelma spent 20 years of her professional career as an emergency nurse at a Level 1 Trauma Center.  Working in the ED made her aware of the need of child passenger safety education. In 1997, she joined the Region 5 Office of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  With her transition from the ED to the federal office, she was able to impact child passenger safety in a more global way rather than one patient at a time.  Thelma retired from NHTSA 3 years ago but her passion for child passenger safety remains. She currently serves on the National Child Passenger Safety Board.
